Thank You UNT SECC Leaders!
Friday, September 26th, 2008I had the honor of speaking yesterday to the leaders of UNT’s State Employee Charity Campaign (SECC). This campaign produced nearly $200,000 for local non-profit organizations last year.
As I looked out at the people who will go back to the various departments that comprise this 30,000+ student institution of higher education, I wondered “do they know the impact they are helping to make in our community”?
Their support is part of a long and diverse list of “friends” who give generously to the work of CISNT. Work that included 1,100 volunteers this past year giving 14,000 hours to help academically at-risk children. Work that included hundreds of backpacks full of weekend food each week for children who do not have enough food to each. Work that adds up to hundreds of thousands of acts of kindness to thousands of children through CISNT last year. Very meaningful work…
There is no way they can ever know this - but they can know, and must know, how truly deeply we appreciate them.
I wish the UNT SECC campaign the very best success this year. And once more from all of us at Communities In Schools of North Texas - THANK YOU!
