Criminal Background Check

Our children's safety is our first priority. All volunteers must pass a criminal background check before serving at one of our schools. This background check is incorporated within our volunteer application. In the event that a prospective volunteer does not pass the Criminal Background Check, he/she will be notified.

Based upon the Criminal Background Check through the "Safe Schools" database and the individual report generated, any prospective volunteer who has one or more of the following on their background check will be ineligible to volunteer on a campus through Communities In Schools of North Texas:

  1. Individual has been convicted of a misdemeanor, with exception to speeding
  2. Individual has been arrested or convicted of possession of or selling of any illegal substance
  3. Individual has been arrested or convicted of a felony
  4. Individual has been arrested or convicted of any sexually based offense
  5. Individual is currently on probation for any offense with exception to speeding

The volunteer background check has been integrated into our volunteer application form. Click here to complete the volunteer application and background check.
