September 15 – October 15 was Hispanic Heritage Month, and CISNT Site Coordinators and students had a great time celebrating with fun, educational activities and crafts!
At Lewisville Elementary School, ACE Site Coordinator Alecia Elbert and her students highlighted a multitude of Hispanic countries, including Mexico, El Salvador, Ecuador, Guatemala, and more, and took time to explore the cultures unique to each country.
Students also learned about famous and influential Hispanic figures, and made flags to represent the countries their own families came from! The Lewisville Elementary School ACE family is so diverse, with families hailing from El Salvador, Nicaragua, Mexico, and Guatemala!
Jennifer Arbaiza, ACE Enrichment Specialist, had a wonderful time exploring students’ and her own Hispanic roots.
“This month is exceptionally important for me, and my family’s roots,” says Ms. Arbaiza. “Being Salvadoran is something I take great pride in, and sharing it with my LES ACE family has been so fun!”
At Strickland Middle School, ACE Site Coordinator Luis Velazquez and his team honored Hispanic Heritage Month with a wide variety of awesome educational activities.
Mr. Velazquez kicked off the month with a contest in which students created portraits of prominent Hispanic figures, such as Selena, Jennifer Lopez, Dora the Explorer, and J. Balvin. Students also created murals and crafts while learning about Hispanic cultural practices and traditions.
CISNT’s core beliefs compel us to recognize and celebrate our students’ diverse backgrounds and experiences. Ms. Elbert and Mr. Velazquez did an outstanding job celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, and CISNT is thrilled to learn about the identities and backgrounds of our diverse staff members and students.
Way to go, Ms. Elbert and Mr. Velazquez! Thank you for being All In For Kids!
