“Because of the love and support she receives on campus and at home, Kailyn has taken difficult moments and turned them into positive things for herself. She’s had hard experiences but doesn’t let it affect where she is now, and that’s a really beautiful thing.” -Bailey Skinner, BSW, CISNT Site Coordinator, Corinth Elementary School
Kailyn, a 5th-grade student at Corinth Elementary School, has worked with her CISNT Site Coordinator, Ms. Skinner, for four years. Over the last four years, Kailyn has blossomed through many games of i-spy, individual support sessions, and friendship-building groups, finding her voice and spreading contagious joy. As her confidence grew, Kailyn began to engage more in her classes. She developed friendships, opened up to her classmates, and invited other students to participate in CIS lunch groups.
Though Kailyn experienced challenges in third grade, she was determined to achieve her behavioral and academic goals. She worked hard, consistently checking in with campus support staff and her CISNT Site Coordinator, utilizing wraparound campus supports to empower her success. Kailyn is now thriving in school. She is outspoken and confident, often helping classmates with work and encouraging others. School staff are amazed by the growth they have seen in Kailyn and are so proud of her dedication and determination! A former teacher of Kailyn’s noted that “her whole body-and-mind growth is substantial, and we are so proud to call her a rockstar. We are incredibly proud of her for being nominated for this award!”
We are so excited for you, Kailyn! Congratulations on being the 2024 CISNT Elementary Student of the Year!
