Congratulations, Pat Sherman, 2025 Volunteer of the Year!

Congratulations to Ms. Patricia ‘Pat’ Sherman, the 2025 Communities In Schools of North Texas Volunteer of the Year!

For over a decade, Pat has dedicated her time to supporting students at Lake Dallas Elementary School and Borman Elementary School. Her dedication extends beyond simply volunteering—she is an advocate, mentor, and leader.

Ms. Nahir Vega, the Site Coordinator at Borman Elementary, shares that Pat “approaches each student with respect, understanding, and encouragement, fostering an environment where they feel valued and heard.” Beyond mentoring, she regularly donates hygiene products, organizes school supply drives through her church, and mobilizes her network to spread awareness about CISNT’s programs and volunteer opportunities. During the holidays, she coordinates an Angel Tree program and assists with holiday food baskets, ensuring families in need experience joy and stability during what can be a difficult time of year.

Pat is actively involved in connecting families to resources and ensures that school supplies and warm welcomes await students and their families during Meet the Teacher Night. Furthermore, she continuously finds ways to uplift and appreciate teachers and staff at Borman, arranging events throughout the year to acknowledge their hard work and dedication.

Her unwavering commitment and compassion make Pat a shining example of the power of mentorship and community involvement. Her ability to cultivate relationships and rally support for CISNT and Borman Elementary has strengthened the community and provided students with life-changing opportunities. Pat exemplifies the mission of CIS, and we are proud to work alongside a volunteer who truly embodies what it means to be “all in for kids!”

We are honored to recognize Pat Sherman as our Volunteer of the Year!
