Congratulations, Elizabeth Pun, 2026 Secondary Student of the Year!

Congratulations to Elizabeth, the 2026 Communities In Schools of North Texas Secondary Student of the Year!

Elizabeth’s connection to CISNT started in second grade. During elementary and middle school, Elizabeth met regularly with her CISNT mentor, Rebecca, from second through sixth grade. Elizabeth also worked closely with Ms. Ngun, CISNT Chin Family Engagement Specialist, who made a lasting impact on her life. Now a junior at Lewisville High School, Elizabeth continues to engage in CIS and has flourished academically and socially.

The second oldest of six, Elizabeth cares deeply for her siblings. The family faced a significant challenge when Elizabeth was in fourth grade with the passing of Elizabeth’s mother. CISNT became a source of comfort, consistency, and support during an incredibly difficult time in her life. While that time was challenging for Elizabeth, CISNT provided her with trusted adults who helped her navigate and process grief, build coping skills, and feel supported rather than alone.

Elizabeth has shown growth in her ability to balance commitments, communicate effectively with adults, and persevere through challenges. She is kind-hearted, funny, intelligent, and dedicated, and these qualities are reflected in her interactions with peers, teachers, and staff.

An active member of the Chin community, Elizabeth serves as Assistant Secretary of the Chin Club at school. Additionally, she is a member of Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), where her group qualified for competition. Their project focused on community involvement and addressing poverty in Myanmar, which is especially meaningful given Elizabeth’s connection to the Chin community.

Elizabeth is highly motivated about her future and is interested in pursuing a career in military medicine. Her goals include traveling the world, growing in her faith, and making a difference in the lives of others. Elizabeth’s resilience, compassion, perseverance, commitment to her community, and long-standing connection to CISNT make her a truly deserving Secondary Student of the Year.

Congratulations, Elizabeth!
