Congratulations, Ms. Rachel Flanders, 2023 CISNT Educator of the Year!

Congratulations to Ms. Rachel Flanders, the 2023 Communities In Schools of North Texas Educator of the Year!

Ms. Flanders is in her first year as principal of Harmon High School in Lewisville ISD. Previously, she served as a beloved Assistant Principal for three years and has worked in education for the past 19 years. Ms. Flanders has been a true leader and advocate on the Harmon campus and has served as a tremendous partner for CISNT, voicing her belief in and appreciation for CISNT programs. As a new CISNT campus liaison, she has fully embraced the program from day one. She even invited CISNT Site Coordinator, Ms. Susan Barden, to join the Building Leadership Team, giving CIS a literal seat at the leadership table.

Ms. Flanders constantly demonstrates FARMER PRIDE and what it means to be HARMON STRONG. From spreading word about CISNT programs and referring CISNT as a resource to those in need of support, to recruiting volunteers to distribute backpacks to over 100 students at the beginning of the school year, Ms. Flanders is always willing to lend a helping hand. She has also helped facilitate mentoring programs and CISNT’s new college/career readiness campaign week initiative. Ms. Flanders’ compassion and dedication to the students and community are both inspirational and undeniable. Ms. Barden shares that Ms. Flanders “brings the Harmon family together when we need it most. I could not be prouder to serve students, staff, and the community alongside her, promoting an atmosphere of positivity, respect, and unity.”

We can’t think of a more deserving recipient of this recognition. Congratulations to Ms. Flanders, and thank you for creating a safe place for students to learn and grow every day! #AllInForKids
