Preparing Students for College

UNT-G-ForceG-Force is a registered student organization at the University of North Texas with defined roles established by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board as part of the College for Texans Campaign. These UNT students travel around North Texas to various high schools to prepare students for college.

They make group presentations, attend parent meetings and workshops, and work one-on-one with high school students. While these students do work for UNT, they do not normally attend events outside of school hours. Communities In Schools at Northwest High School is grateful they made an exception and served our students this past December.

G-Force volunteers conducted a parent education presentation at the Holiday Event for Northwest High School, Pike Middle School, and Justin Elementary families. The UNT G-Force students were flexible with scheduling, enthusiastic about our event, and participated free of charge. It was awesome!

G-Force volunteers educated parents on financial aid options, the college application process, and what their children can be doing to prepare themselves for their post-high school education. G-Force volunteers also participated in Q&A sessions, answering questions and providing resources to parents. It was a great opportunity for our CIS parents to be educated by a diverse group of college students and gain insight on how they can play a role in their children’s post high-school future.

Thank you UNT G-Force!
