Mentor Spotlight: Matt Yeager

I would like to take the time to recognize our wonderful mentor, Matt Yeager at Bridgeport Elementary School in Bridgeport, Texas! Mr. Yeager began mentoring two students last school year with CISNT. This school year he has once again committed to mentoring two more students.

When Mr. Yeager meets with his students, he focuses on honesty, self-control, trust, and acceptance. He also stresses the importance of having empathy for others, developing problem solving skills, and establishing boundaries. He is really good about following up and re-evaluating the situation if something is not working. He believes in making a difference and having data that supports the change.

The improvements we saw behavior-wise with both students were that they looked forward to meeting with Mr. Yeager every week. It was an incentive for them to do better and follow through with what they discussed the previous week. We would see enthusiasm on Tuesdays of every week because those students would have an outlet with a dedicated and caring adult. Both students were also able to make improvements academically. Mr. Yeager also assisted with homework completion that then resulted in better grades.

Mr. Yeager always has a smile on his face and is ready to help our students succeed! We truly appreciate Mr. Yeager  for making a difference in our students’ lives!
