Modeling Resiliency

Samantha Black is one of our Academic Coaches from Texas Woman’s University. Samantha would like to become a teacher one day! She has worked with some of our students at Lake Dallas Middle School and has helped them further their understanding of math.

Samantha particularly connected with a struggling student who was very quiet and shy. Not only was Samantha helping this student academically, she helped the student become more confident in herself and her math abilities!

One day, Samantha was in a car accident on her way to Lake Dallas Middle School and was hospitalized for two weeks. The student who connected so well with Samantha kept asking if Samantha would be able to come help her again. I was truly unsure due to Samantha’s situation. However, Samantha decided to come back to LDMS and continue to work with that student.

I am very thankful of the work that Samantha has done with our students. She not only helpd them understand math, she also helped our students learn about resilience! Thank you for showing our students that it is possible to continue working and helping even when going through tough situations!
