AmeriCorps is part of the corporation for national and community service and is a federal program that engages adults in public service with the goal of helping communities.

AmeriCorps Texas members serve on the front lines of meeting our state’s most critical needs with local nonprofits, government organizations, and educational institutions. These organizations rely on the commitment and enthusiasm of AmeriCorps members to address a wide variety of issues, including literacy, youth mentorship, college access and persistence, food security, disaster preparedness and response, environmental stewardship, job readiness, housing access, and more.

Serving at CISNT

With CISNT, AmeriCorps Members will provide integrated support services to K-12 students to empower them to stay in school and achieve in life.

Members complete a service term of 100-450 hours, which can be served in one semester, or throughout the full school year. Members also receive supervision and training from CISNT staff to prepare them for success in their career.

Benefits of Serving

CISNT AmeriCorps Members receive the following benefits through their service:

Non-competitive eligibility for government jobs for up to one year after completion of service
Segal Educational Award of approximately $380-$1,800, upon completion of service, which can be used for educational expenses at eligible post-secondary institutions, including many technical schools and G.I. Bill approved programs, or to repay qualified students loans
Professional development in the social service / non-profit sector for individuals wanting to build their resume or change careers (including, but not limited to: community resource referrals, documentation, data management, networking, and more)
Access to free mental health services and Member Assistance Program
