A Busy Mentor Makes Time for His Mentees

RodReevesRod Reeves, Director of Facilities and Construction for Little Elm ISD, is in his first year volunteering as a Communities In Schools of North Texas mentor at Little Elm High School.

Rod first began meeting with his student in February and immediately established rapport. He comes for his mentoring sessions on a regular basis and shows up to each session early so that he can check on the status of his student’s grades and behavior with me. He is extremely encouraging of his student’s goals and aspirations. Rod has shown a genuine interest in his student and his student has responded positively.

Recently, another student experienced a situation which warranted the need for him to meet with a male mentor. When I approached Rod with the possibility of picking up a second mentee, he readily agreed and even rearranged his busy schedule so he could see both students in one day.

Rod is a supporter of CISNT not only with his time but also in his communication of the program. He frequently speaks positively of the program having had the privilege of previously experiencing it at Denton High School as a teacher and now as a stellar Volunteer.
