A Student’s Artistic Talents Shines Through

Nayeli2Nayeli1Nayeli, a sixth grade student at Chisholm Trail Middle School, learned about Communities In Schools from a friend who excitedly brought her into my office and said she was interested in participating in lunch groups. After speaking with her for a while, I learned she would be an excellent fit for both the girl’s self-esteem group and the academic “Amiibros” group.

It has been an incredible experience watching her develop her sense of self-esteem through our group’s activities. Every day she steps more and more out of her shell and is opening up to others. One of her most prized skills is drawing, and she is an incredible artist.

When I first heard our school was making a lip dub video, I went straight to Nayeli to ask for her help! We needed some kind of banner or poster to represent us; I told Nayeli I really wanted the CIS logo on the poster, and she went straight to work. She drew an amazing logo on the poster and even wrote out the names of each of my groups to tie it all together for our campus! I am so proud of Nayeli and can’t wait to see her development continue throughout the year.
