This month, I would like to take some time to recognize one of our amazing tutors this semester at Rivera Elementary in Denton, TX.
D. comes to us from the UNT Education program and is currently completing one of her final classes before beginning student teaching.
D. comes in two times a week and sees the same three groups of students each time. She has stood out to myself and my intern through her amazing initiative and apparent drive to improve herself as a future educator.
She takes her personal time to ensure that she has a variety of academic activities for each group and really takes the time to mold these activities to the group to make them challenging but can be accomplished for her students. She was also quick to notice that some of our students in her groups could also use some positive reinforcement to encourage them to continue growing on their academic journey.
For all her groups, she has started a sticker system to promote academic resiliency with her students and has found different ways to help her students decompress when they are feeling overwhelmed with reading.
We would like to thank D. for coming in and working so diligently with our students. We are excited to see what else she will achieve with her groups before the semester ends!
