ATMOS ENERGY DONATES $30,000 TO COMMUNITIES IN SCHOOLS OF NORTH TEXAS TO HELP STUDENTS STAY IN SCHOOL AND ACHIEVE IN LIFE
Part of a $175,000 Atmos donation to CIS Affiliates in Texas to impact the lives of our most vulnerable students.
LEWISVILLE, Texas (March 27, 2025) – Communities In Schools of North Texas (CISNT), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering students to stay in school and achieve in life, announced Atmos Energy donated $30,000 to support their work that connects students to caring adults and community resources to alleviate academic, behavioral, and economic challenges closing the achievement gap and reducing chronic absenteeism. Atmos Energy is committed to investing in education, childhood literacy, energy assistance, and food insecurity. The corporation has distributed financial resources throughout its service area to assist community organizations in this way. This partnership extends the work of CISNT, furthering the provision of services on the school campus, eliminating barriers to accessing community resources, and ensuring that all students have what they need to achieve academic success and realize their full potential.

Across Texas, CIS served over 122,787 students in the 2023-2024 school year with one-on-one case-managed services and impacted the lives of over one million students in the 1,447 campuses where they operate. “Partners like Atmos Energy make our work possible,” said Elizabeth Johnston, Director of Network Development for CIS of Texas. “We are grateful for their support, which makes a lasting difference in the lives of our students. Together, we are helping students succeed today and chart a course towards a brighter future.”

Communities In Schools of North Texas is a nonprofit that works with students at risk of dropping out by surrounding them with a local community of support to ensure they stay in school and achieve in life. It is part of a national organization that ensures every student has what they need to realize their full potential in school and beyond. Working directly inside 59 schools across six North Texas school districts, CISNT connects students to caring adults and community resources that help them overcome the barriers that stand between them and a brighter future. CISNT served over 34,000 students in the 2023-2024 school year, providing case management services to 5,499 children. Last year, 98.2% of eligible CISNT high school seniors graduated, and 99.9% of CISNT students advanced to the next grade.
