Atmos Energy Supports Communities In Schools of North Texas with Campus Achievement Partnership

DALLAS – Oct. 20, 2021 – Atmos Energy recently donated $25,000 to Communities In Schools of North Texas (CISNT) Campus Achievement Partnership (CAP) program, which enables a local business or organization to invest directly in a CISNT campus program. This gift to CISNT is one of hundreds made by Atmos Energy as part of an enterprise-wide Fueling Safe and Thriving Communities drive to invest in educational, literacy, energy assistance, and food security resources across the 1,400 communities it serves.

“CISNT builds sustainable, long term partnerships. We strive to partner with the community to develop and achieve meaningful goals, objectives, and activities that support student success in school,” said Ann Pape Wilson, CISNT Chief Executive Officer. “Atmos Energy’s generous donation will support 3,400 students at five Lewisville ISD elementary, middle, and high school campuses with healthy meals, nutritious snacks, case-management services, and resources to empower each student to stay in school and achieve in life.”

Half of all students in North Texas are at risk of dropping out of school, yet with the help of CISNT, more than 30,000 students will receive services this year that empower them to stay in school and achieve in life. CISNT believes that every child deserves a one-on-one relationship with a caring adult; a safe place to learn and grow; a healthy start and a healthy future; a marketable skill to use upon graduation; and a chance to give back to peers and community. Through supportive guidance and counseling, health and human services, parent and family engagement, college and career readiness, enrichment, and academic support, CISNT coordinates essential services to meet the needs of youth who need additional support to stay on track for graduation.

“For the past 12 years, 99 percent of students in CISNT programs have stayed in school,” said Jan Rugg, Atmos Energy manager of public affairs. “Through our Fueling Safe and Thriving Communities program, we are committed to continuing CISNT’s success in helping students overcome barriers and achieve their goals.”

In partnership with hundreds of organizations, Atmos Energy’s Fueling Safe and Thriving Communities outreach benefits school districts, nonprofits, after school programs, and food banks through everything from backpacks and laptops to nutritious breakfasts to books that help early childhood learners read on level by third grade. Vulnerable households will also have access to funds through local energy assistance agencies to support with utility bills, weatherization, customer natural gas line repairs, and natural gas appliance repairs and replacements.
