Godwill has been in the Communities In Schools Club ACE (Afterschool Centers on Education) program for three years at Lakeside Middle School in Little Elm, TX. From a small sixth grader, to a fourteen year old young man about to head to high school, our CIS ACE staff in Lakeside has witnessed Godwill become an amazing person with a very promising future.
Godwill has always been known as a goofball. He is always making faces, cracking a joke, or trying to get you to laugh. However, he has also become a leader. As an 8th grader, Godwill has shown this year that you can be the oldest and biggest kid in the program, but still be compassionate and inclusive to those that are younger or are new to CIS ACE.
I will admit, I am partial to Godwill because we share a birthday. In fact, we celebrated it just a couple of days ago, and we made sure everyone in CIS ACE knew that our birthdays were coming up. We shared some cupcakes and joked about our similarities, talking about our plans for the day and the weekend of celebrations we were going to have. Although he just turned 14, Godwill has such a comfortable manner when communicating with adults, even with his boyish sense of humor interjecting every other sentence.
In the classroom or on the basketball court, Club ACE cannot be more proud of our longtime student, Godwill. We will miss him when he graduates from our campus and becomes a freshman in high school, but we are confident that we are sending off a strong, smart, and kind young man that has the ability to become something fantastic. If every student could make the journey that Godwill has, our next generation will have amazing leaders and fantastic role models.
