Piper is a student I can always count on to have a big smile and a funny story when she enters the Communities In Schools of North Texas office at Chisholm Trail Middle School in Rhome, TX. Over the years that I’ve worked with Piper, I’ve seen her self-esteem grow, and I’m very proud of her.
An avid fan of Asian pop culture, Piper was sad that her passion of Japanese and Korean pop music wasn’t represented in our clubs on campus. Thanks to some quick thinking and an arrangement with a separate club, I was able to set up a special K-pop and J-pop dancing club that I’d host on club days!
It was all in honor of Piper’s dedication to being true to herself.
