Building Positive Mental Health through Interactive Group Learning – Mental Health May

Cool Down Club, a mental health monthly group, is wrapping up its first year at Stewart’s Creek Elementary and has been fun and educational for many students. Throughout the year, the club grew from only 11 students to 35 students and was run by the CIS Site Coordinator, with the support of teachers as volunteers. The purpose of the Cool Down Club was to assist students in learning relaxation and mindfulness techniques. Students learned how to make stress balls, calm down bottles, learned yoga poses, and more – all while learning how to recognize and regulate their emotions. CISNT knows that positive mental health is so important in helping kids achieve in school and in life. Open groups, like the Cool Down Club, which are available to the whole school ensure that ALL students can have a healthy start and a healthy future!
