For 27 years, Communities In Schools of North Texas has been committed to our mission to empower North Texas students to stay in school and achieve in life.
Since our formation in 1993, CISNT has been a consistent source of support for North Texas students and their families. Over the past five years, CISNT has grown from 26 to 38 case management programs – a growth of 46 percent. In 2020, CISNT has continued to respond to the growing needs of North Texas students, and has expanded the case management program into eight more campuses, in collaboration with our partner school districts.
Currently, nearly 52 percent of North Texas students are economically disadvantaged, and 45 percent of North Texas students are considered at-risk of dropping out of school (TEA, 2020). The COVID-19 pandemic has only exacerbated students’ needs. At the present, there is an increased need for social services, academic support, mental health resources, and effective internet connectivity. Furthermore, Denton ISD has identified a significant resource gap along the 380 Corridor on the outskirts of Denton, TX, where several new campuses are located.
Through expansion, CISNT will increase the number of North Texas students receiving case management services from 3,540 to 4,320, a growth of 22 percent. Additionally, more than 29,000 students will now have access to CISNT’s school-wide services, addressing widespread needs, such as access to food and social-emotional support services.

- Catherine Bell Elementary School
- Paloma Creek Elementary School
- McMath Middle School
- Rodriguez Middle School
Lake Dallas ISD
- Corinth Elementary School
2020 brought on challenges that touched the lives of nearly every person across the United States. Following the closure of school buildings and widespread job losses, North Texas students and families were significantly impacted. Families faced lack of access to food, hygiene items, employment, resources, and technology to support distance learning.
As these students and families have undergone these challenges, many more students in the region are facing barriers to their successful education this year.
In the 2020-2021 school year, through our 45 case management programs and 10 afterschool programs, CISNT will provide students with crucial services addressing their individualized needs, and will ensure that all students have access to the resources they need to stay in school and achieve in life.
We are excited for this opportunity to grow deeper into these communities, and to partner with our school districts, local businesses, nonprofit organizations, faith-based and civic organizations, local universities, and our local governing bodies to connect students and families with the tools they need to thrive.
