Summer is coming to an end, and as we transition into the 2021-2022 school year, Communities In Schools of North Texas took some time to celebrate our amazing Community of Support with our first ever Back to School Breakfast!
On Thursday, July 29th, nearly 200 CISNT staff members, volunteers, community stakeholders, and board members gathered to celebrate the individuals who contribute to our mission and embody organizational values. Attendees enjoyed a hot breakfast provided by La Madeleine, and settled in to watch CISNT present our first ever Core Belief Awards which honored individuals who exemplify our five Core Beliefs. We believe these basic tenets are what all children need and deserve to thrive. The individuals awarded capture the spirit of each tenet through their work, their volunteerism, their community involvement, and their support of CISNT students:
- A one-on-one relationship with a caring adult: Laura Bakken
- A safe place to learn and grow: Denton County Judge Andy Eads
- A healthy start and a healthy future: Jan Rugg
- A marketable skill to use upon graduation: Deepa Pulianda
- A chance to give back to peers and community: Fred Whitfield
Director of Data Management John Nguyen and Zone 1 Program Director Correne Fierro were also recognized with Lifetime Achievement Awards for over 20 years of dedicated service with CISNT!
Programming concluded with a speech by 2021 CISNT Volunteer of the Year Trane Wyatt. Trane shared inspiring words about volunteering and supporting children in our communities.
“If we can catch students while they’re young, and if we can feed them so that they don’t have those barriers to learning, and we can give them guidance, love, and support, then they grow into adults who are capable, confident, and successful,” said Trane.
Communities In Schools of North Texas realizes the importance of investing in North Texas students, and we are committed to empowering students to overcome barriers and achieve their goals. CISNT is so grateful to have a Community of Support full of wonderful individuals who share our vision and drive to serve kids, and we want to extend a huge THANK YOU to our stakeholders who attended this inaugural event and proudly displayed their support for our mission.
Thank you for being #AllInForKids!
