Two years ago, CISNT started a Mental Health Initiative with the purpose of doing what was best for kids and filling the gaps in resources for students and families in our community. By adding a Mental Health Coordinator CISNT was able to expand services offered to students on campuses. Through our Mental Health Coordinator we have been able to provide coordinator mental health services to over 250 students as well as provide education and training to over 900 individuals these last couple of years.
As we look towards the 2019-2020 school year we are excited to welcome our new Director of Mental Health and Resiliency, Regina deLeon, LPC-S, to the team. As the Director of Mental Health and Resiliency, Regina will help us continue to grow student support services as well as increase the number of students and families assisted through coordinated mental health services. With this new position, CISNT is also looking forward to increasing our community partnerships with local mental and behavioral health organizations, providing community forums to further the mental health awareness on the needs of students, and to be an active leader in evidence based practices that provide a continuum of support for students faced with mental or behavioral health needs.
