Our Statement of Belief

Communities In Schools of North Texas believes that transformative relationships are the key to unlocking a student’s potential. We will succeed by including in our strategies, ingraining in our culture, and reflecting in our behaviors, principles and practices of diversity, equity and inclusion. As a result, we break down immediate and systemic barriers to create and sustain equitable outcomes for students and families.

Our DEI Work

In fall 2019, CISNT formalized our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and embarked on a training and action plan to operationalize DEI in all areas of our organization. To measure our progress, CISNT is following the DEI Stakeholder Commitment Continuum, which incorporates five levels of commitment to DEI: Awareness, Understanding, Adoption, Ownership & Promotion, and Innovation.

Leadership Involvement

The CISNT Board of Directors adopted a formal statement of belief reflecting CISNT’s commitment to the principles and practices of DEI and the importance that it has in our work. The CISNT Board also established a DEI Committee who continuously evaluates and guides the organization’s DEI efforts. Additionally, in fall 2020, CISNT created a DEI Strategy Team made up of a diverse group of CISNT staff. This team meets monthly to review training topics, provide feedback on past trainings, and evaluate progress of CISNT’s DEI work overall.
