Thanks to her hard work and dedication to academics, Haleigh has been successful as a 7th grader in 8th grade math class at Chisholm Trail Middle School in Rhome, TX. Unfortunately, because of her class schedule, she was placed her in 8th grade lunch, away from all her friends.
I could tell this was a struggle for Haleigh, so we tried to work out ways to build up new friendships and get to know her older classmates. The first step was getting her to participate in the CIS “Bulldog Buddies” girls self-esteem group were she began to make new friends.
Haleigh then began to participate in the “Amiibros” academic lunch group and made great friends in there as well. She even regularly participates in an afterschool tabletop gaming club, where she builds up her social skills and has fun doing it!
In December, Haleigh participated in our white elephant gift exchange, where she received a fantastic ceramic bird! It is truly heart-warming to see how much her self-esteem and social skills are improving, and I can’t wait to see it continue!
