Summer can be a challenge for students because of the freedom of time they are given. For Donavin, a fifth grader at Seven Hills Elementary in the Northwest Independent School District, the summertime was the time he had to get to work. He made a goal of reading over the summer and was able to reach that goal. Because of his dedication, he actually increased his reading level by several grade levels!
For his accomplishment, Donavin received a leadership recognition by the principal and was able to put his picture and story in the principals wall of fame. It is amazing the results that can be achieved when students realize the future they have available and make goals to reach them.
